Alzheimer is almost like memory loss but it is not as simple as memory loss.
One should properly understand the symptoms of Alzheimer otherwise it can be confused with usual loss of memory with age. This affects the brain and at later stage paralyzes the body. Early diagnosis can go a long way in controlling a problem.

  1. In this case the loss of memory will keep on growing persistently. And its magnitude will multiply with increasing time.
  2. Counting numbers, even small calculation becomes a problem.
  3. The person will have increasing difficulty in phrasing of sentence. Choice of right words takes more than usual time.
  4. It will be difficult to correlate things like he may identify the person but will not be able to recall his name, or relation or even a recent development on it. Though forgetting a name might sound a common thing but in this case even recent incidents will not be recalled with ease.
  5. The person with Alzheimer syndrome will find doing of daily chores a gigantic task.
  6. Sleep is another major symptom. Person with Alzheimer will have sleeping disorders
  7. Change in personality is a striking symptom. You may see a sudden change; the person will become irritable, disoriented, depressed and passive.
  8. There is frequent mood swings

Alzheimer is shade more than Dementia. Otherwise the symptoms on the surface are almost similar. On identification of any such symptom one should immediately concern a doctor who with clinical tests will clearly diagnose the ailment.
